Another American Benefits From Obamacare

Here is another story of a common middle class American who is helped by Obamacare...and it is just starting to be implemented.  This is a story of a lady who is able to get insurance help for breast cancer because "the federal government's Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan...one of the things [from Obamacare] that has already kicked in".

Insurance companies have routinely used "pre-existing conditions" as an excuse to not cover American citizens.  They would rather pay excessive salaries and benefits to their executives and their investors than help American citizens in need.  Of course, as a corporation, their first obligation is to their investors.

The system  needs to change.  The first obligation of a health insurance company should be to the people they insure.  That obligation can be fulfilled by a government run, single payer system based on the Medicare model.  Medicare -- the most efficient and effective medical health insurance system in this nation.

And republicans want to repeal Obamacare and turn Medicare into a private corporate -run system.  They would rather pander to the insurance companies and insurance executives than the average American.  It is not right.

  1. Insurance companies are not eliminated by Obamacare. In fact now I will be forced to pay a private companies premiums and still get the shaft from their policies. I wonder how much Obama gets from these insurance companies to boost their customer count?

  2. There'll be more and more cases like the woman quoted in your post. They all need to be hugely publicized.

I saw an article a few months ago -- I should have bookmarked it -- saying that repealing "Obamacare" will be almost impossible because it's so far-reaching and has so many features that are being implemented incrementally. By the time there's even a remote chance of the law being repealed, tens of millions of people will be benefiting from these "Obamacare" features that have slowly crept in.

  3. I've read several accounts about how people have already benefited from liberals and conservatives. It seems only the extremes on both sides of the political spectrum are still moping around and whining.

  4. Can it be improved? Absolutely! Should it be completely eliminated? Absolutely NOT!

  5. The one fear that I have with the Healthcare bill is that a lot of people will simply wait until they're sick and THEN buy insurance (this, in that the penalty is significantly less than the cost of a policy). Hopefully, it doesn't happen that way but, if in fact it does, the system will more than likely implode.

  7. Will,
The question is how do you get people to buy insurance? The answer is not if they don't buy insurance, let them die. (I do not believe you are advocating this.) Now, they go to the emergency room which is the most expensive form of care. This is not the answer either.

  8. Obviously, I had a brain fart there with that link. Meant to out up another one, which now I cannot find, of course. Getting as bad as Perry.
