The Do Nothing Solution

That's right!  Let's DO NOTHING.

We hear lots of jawboning from both the right and the left about what needs to be do to solve the deficit/debt problem.  But wait!  Why do we have to do anything.  Check out the chart below.

If Congress does nothing, nothing at all, they just go home and sit on the porch, the deficit will go down to about 1% of GDP, and the debt falls from a peak of 73% of GDP to about 60% as shown in the figure below.

Also note that this "Do Nothing" performance is much better than if Congress extends all current (essentially Republican) policies.

Well, where do all these reductions come from?  As explained in the Center for American Progress article that has these figures,
  • $1.2 Trillion dollars in spending cuts will be triggered if Congress does nothing,
  • $3 Trillion dollars in revenue increases will occur when the Bush tax cuts expire,
  • $2 Trillion dollars from Congressional inaction on the alternate minimum tax and the sustainable growth rate formula in Medicare.
Obviously, doing something is better than doing nothing.  Right?  Well, let's take a look at what is being proposed.
  • The president's fiscal commission "would leave the country with about $1 trillion in additional debt compared to simply doing nothing"
  •  The republican budget plan passed by the House "would incur approximately $1.5 trillion more debt than doing nothing at all".
So, right now, if your goal is to reduce the deficit/debt, the best plan out there is for Congress to go home and sit on their collective asses because they are only going to make it worse.

Look at the following three figures that I picked up over at Campaign For America's Future, and tell me who is better for our economy and our country.

The Big Difference Between Democrats and Republicans -- Part 2

This post is too good not to repeat from Green Eagle.  Here it is in most of its entirety.
REMOVING A DICTATOR REPUBLICAN STYLE

Ten years later:
Two trillion dollars wasted
five thousand dead American soldiers
Our country involved in two wars, where the possibility of winning has long vanished
One million "enemy" dead, the vast majority of them civilians
One country fractured, and now controlled by a variety of rerligious fanatics, the other one run by our hand-picked, 100% corrupt ex-oil executive

REMOVING A DICTATOR DEMOCRATIC STYLE:

Six months later:
Cost: negligible
No dead Americans
We're out of there and the people can get on with their lives
Country about to be liberated from 40 years of vicious dictatorship
A good shot for a decent (by regional standards) government in the future

It Is Time To Do The Peoples' Will

Isn't Congress supposed to do what the people who elected them want?  Well, by about a 2 to 1 margin, the PEOPLE want taxes raised.  Pick your poll.  They all say the same thing.

Income Redistribution

Next time you read about how workers are over-paid, how they are driving our economy off a cliff, how their retirement is going to break our country's back, read this article,

HOW THE WEALTHY ARE SCREWING AMERICA!

  over at Jack Jodell's place:

Conservative Attributes

Here is another one of those lists.

You Might Be A Conservative If...

It is at Addicting Info which I find has a lot of interesting articles.  I enjoy them, although conservatives probably don't.  Anyway, this list is pretty good.  Sure, you can argue with a few of their points but, for the most part, I think they hit the nail on the head.

What I would like to see is a similar list for Liberals.  Anyone out there have one?  I'm looking for one that puts Liberals in a bad light.  I can list their good points.  How about a list that puts Liberals in a bad light like this list does to Conservatives.

Or do you think this list puts Conservatives in a good light?  Are these good things about Conservatives?

McConnell - republican Terrorist

What do terrorists do?  Well, one thing is they take hostages.  Some times they kill the hostage, and sometimes the ransom the  hostage to get something they want.

“I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting,” he said. “Most of us didn’t think that. What we did learn is this — it’s a hostage that’s worth ransoming."
Yes, the republican leader in the Senate said about the debt ceiling,

"it's a hostage that's worth ransoming."

That is terrorist talk!

And he is willing to do it again.

Congressional republicans are American Terrorists and their leader is Mitch McConnell.

The Big Difference Between Democrats And republicans

The debt limit deal clearly delineates the difference between republicans and Democrats.  As reported in the LA Times,
" ...each made clear their top priorities.

For Republicans, it was preventing any tax increase to upper-income families.

For Democrats, it was ensuring no cuts to Social Security, Medicaid and a handful of other programs that aid the elderly and the poor.
Remember this when you go to the polls in 2012!
