Is It Lying Or Just Stupidity?

Rick Perry says "you cannot show me one place, not one where there is a proven pollution of groundwater by hydraulic fracking,” (Source)

Well, Rick.  How about five.   Pavillion, WY; Sublette County, WY; Dimock, PA; Bradford County, PA; and Pittsburgh, PA are all home to confirmed cases of groundwater contamination caused by fracking.(Source).

In fact, Perry’s home state is so concerned about the consequences of fracking that it joined Colorado in adopting rules “that require oil and natural-gas companies to disclose the chemicals they inject underground.” The new rules show that Texas is “serious about regulating the rapidly expanding hydraulic fracturing,” the Wall Street Journal noted.

Is Rick Perry a lying SOB or a stupid SOB?  Maybe both?

  1. 3 out of the 5 places you mentioned just happen to be in Pennsylvania. In a completely unrelated story, Pennsylvania just happens to be the only state that has absolutely no regulations regarding fracking.

    I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

  2. Evidence is for atheists! Atheists are like the gays. Homosexuality is a Sin. Evidence is a Sin. Q.E.D.

  3. I've always said that Perry wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Ergo, I'd probably have to go with stupidity.

  4. I'll play it safe and go for "both" on this one. Who could prove it's otherwise?
