Elizabeth Warren Gets It

From What IS Working Check out the video in the link.
There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody.
You built a factory out there—good for you! But I want to be clear.
You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for.
You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate.
You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for.
You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.
Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea—God bless. Keep a big hunk of it.
But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.
I wish I could vote for her.

  1. This is one of the greatest things I have ever read! If we had a little more enlightenment such as this, and a lot less self-involvement, there would nothing we couldn't overcome.

  2. The reason they got rich does not matter. As rich men they matter more than the rest of us. Just ask them. They are entitled to the benefits they get from this nation, but everyone else just wants entitlements, just ask them.

  3. There is a reason they are called entitlements.

  4. The way you guys frame the argument makes your Marxism almost sound sane. How could a reasonable person disagree? The reality is you guys demonize everyone who has more than you .

  5. It is hard to argue with the truth, isn't it witless. Plus, you have no idea how much I have. There are many reasons why I can spend so much time on line each day.

  6. She is awesome, I wish I could vote for her too! She'll be a great addition to the Senate Democrats!

I don't believe we demonize the rich bastards, do we Jerry? We simply believe they should contribute to our economic recovery, the more the better! They have gotten a free ride by the fascists for far too long!

  7. Since when is paying your fair share demonizing?

  8. This woman is a walking socialist criminal parasite.

It was the moneys from industry and the private sector that made EVERYTHING POSSIBLE, including the healthcare that kept this lousy piece of work from dying during childbirth.

    Fools!

  9. She gets it BIG TIME, in a way no current Washington pol does! She will be the best Senator since Bernie Sanders!

  10. Such hate, Anonymous. You must be a real joy to be around.

  11. Jerry, it would appear that anonymous is witless...in more ways than one, eh?

  12. Witless, schmitless. Anonymous, schanonymous. I'd rather be a Marxist than a coward.

I have no problems with anyone making big bucks and getting very rich but I have very serious problems with naked greed and an unwillingness to bare a proportionate responsibility to society as a whole - while screwing the poor and middle-class.

If we can elect more people like Warren and Sanders to Congress, we'll be a much stronger government.

By the way, Anon - I just posted about bullies and low-lifes like you. Not only are you dirt stupid, you're a coward.

  13. Warren, as usual, is absolutely right. Her message will resonate with the nonwealthy rest of us, as it should.

It won't convince the rich. Not all, but too many of them are on a tear of privatizing profit and ripping off anything they can, while shifting risks and the consequences of recklessness and blunders onto the nonwealthy rest of us.

Warren is a gem. She might turn out to be the future Democratic leader Mario Cuomo and Eliot Spitzer could've been and should have been.

  14. Possibly but not necessarily, Jerry. Let's see if Warren defeats Brown and then how she fares as a senator.

  15. That was an excellent speech by Elizabeth Warren. The only drawback is, that speech probably caused Wall Street CEOs and the Koch Brothers to "contribute" a few more million dollars to their congressional prostitutes.

I hope she kicks Scott Brown's ass in 2012.

  16. People I have no need to be anonymous since our host has never threatened to ban or delete me. I naturally think Anonymous is right, but I ain't him .

Elizabeth Warren has a good chance given the local terrain. However, should she fail to recapture this Liberal nirvana for your side, that would signal bad things, from your viewpoint.

    Be very very nervous.
