Quirks

We all have them. Little things that others think are strange.

One of mine has to do with soap, be it soap at the bathroom sink or soap in the shower. I don't like to waste soap. (According to my wife, I am much too wasteful with most things, so this soap fetish is a little strange -- at least according to her.) I will use it until it becomes a very small piece, to the point where it keeps falling out of my hands. I then stick it on the top of a new bar of soap. Once the soap dries out, to old piece is securely stuck to the new piece and, voile, no wasted soap.

I am so proud of myself!

  1. Good job Jerry, waste not want not. I used to do this too, until I started using liquid soap. Hey, I save dryer lint to start fires!

  3. LMAO Jerry! I am so relieved to hear I am not the only one!

Sort of related -- My step-grandmother used to save up the soap bar remnants from all around her, put them in the blender and make squeeze bottles full of her own soap. As borderline grody as that is, it was actually the best soap I have ever used!

    Cheers for not wasting! :D

  4. Sarah - My mother use to put soap remnants in nylon netting and use it to scrub things. Maybe that is where I get my soap fetish.

  5. I read that those lint balls make excellent fire starter.....

My favorite book is by Amy D. "The Complete Tightwad Gazette"... I might not do 1/2 of the things in that book; but it is good to have in case the economy gets bad...

    Fun to read too.

Better for the Environment to not waste anything............. keep using your soap up completely. :)
