Republicans Can't Create Jobs

Republicans campaigned on job creation, but since the election, they have done virtually nothing about creating jobs.  Republicans are good at making promises.  They are bad to fulfilling those promises.

Do you want jobs?  Then elect democrats as shown in this graphic that I picked up over at ataxingmatter.

  3. Jimmy Carter was/is a good and decent man. But the fact that he's #2 on this list is exceedingly deceptive. Inflation by the end of 1980 was 13.6% (or maybe that was the average for the year, I forgot), unemployment 7.1%, and interest rates exceeding 18%. Add to that the long gas lines that I still remember having to wait in and, no, the Carter years weren't exactly gangbusters economically..

  4. Maybe Republicans are creating jobs that we don't know about. With all the trillions of dollars they're spending on political campaigns, you'd think a few jobs would be created by all that spending.

Probably not, though; it's probably just fattening up a few media executives who are already too fat.

  5. Since most people respond better to visual stimulation than the written word..this graphic should help to make the point to those people as well.

  6. Oh and long gas lines were not the fault of Jimmy Carter, but the right loves to pin it on him.

How about pinning it on Big Oil, the rightful place to put 'that blame'.

  7. Dusty, I believe that it was OPEC who was screwing us back then. Carter was President. When things go good, Presidents get credit. When things go bad, Presidents get blame. It may not be fair, but it is what it is.

  8. Actually Will, its your interpretation in order to make Carter look worse than he factually was.

Hedge funds have been in existence for decades, and it's only been within the last decade that people became aware of how they control so many different 'markets' with their speculative horseshit.

  10. He was still the President, Dusty. And he hardly needs any "help" from me to make his Presidency look bad.

  11. And he hardly needs any "help" from me to make his Presidency look bad. But that is my whole point of responding to your trashing of Carter..you are helping or at the very least, trying to refute the information that Jerry posted about Carter...because you don't like him and buy into the usual bs about him.

  12. The oil crisis of 1979 was caused by the Iranian situation (a sharp decrease in production) and a generalized panic in the public. Carter then made the situation worse by banning all Iranian imports (to a certain extend a laudable act against the Ayatollah). I mean, I know that you guys like to blame everything on either Reagan, Bush 2, or some mysterious corporate boogie man, but, yes, sometimes there's a Democrat to blame. And, no, I DON'T dislike Carter. I already said that he was a good and decent man (and I'll admit that not EVERYTHING that happened during his years was entirely his fault) but, come on, why in the hell this knee-jerk reaction in defending the guy. I mean, I don't see a lot of Republicans trying to rehabilitate Herbert Hoover and Nixon.

  13. Oh, and, yes, Carter - he was the first guy I ever voted for for President (1976)....Four years later I proudly campaigned for John Anderson (worked with the university chaplain in fact).

  14. The oil crisis you speak of started in 73 and went until Ronnie Rayguns took office Will.

why in the hell this knee-jerk reaction in defending the guy. It's not knee jerk. I can name plenty of things Carter did right, and I will agree that he did somethings wrong..or at least "politically" wrong.

One of the reasons he lost, imho was the strong showing of support for other candidates, like you name, Anderson. Teddy made his run against Carter too, which siphoned off votes from the left..or the left at that time.

No doubt about it. And then there are those who aren't going to get the point no matter what kind of stimulation is used.

  19. The reason Jimmy Carter lost was Reagan's October Surprise. And Will, you saying you don't dislike Carter? I don't buy it. Unless you mean AS A PERSON.

You sure as hell dislike the job he did as president. Which is why you ALWAYS chime in to bash him whenever he's mentioned on someone else's blog, and why you regularly trash him on your blog.

Do you believe we should have continued buying oil from Iran during the hostage crisis?

Jimmy Carter advocated a move to solar power. If Reagan hadn't dismantled his initiatives the energy situation in the US today would be VERY different. He was truly a visionary on this front.

  20. If Reagan hadn't dismantled his initiatives the energy situation in the US today would be VERY different. He was truly a visionary on this front. Got that right W-dervish! We would of been years ahead of the curve that we see now...and the control that Big Oil has on us.
