Bestsellers
I was looking at the LA Times Bestsellers list this morning and noticed the following:
Fiction: #1 The Book of Genesis Illustrated by R. Crumb
Non-Fiction: #5 Going Rogue by Sarah Palin
A book of the bible as fiction and Palin's book as non-fiction.
Some people would thing the LA Times got things backwards, although I suspect that many believe that these two books are either both fiction or both non-fiction.

If I might be so bold, I think the LA Times got it wrong. In libraries, bibles and other religious stories are in the 220 section of the NON-fiction department. I took a library cataloging course once, and I think this is the one piece of information I retained. I knew a day would come that it would be put to good use!! Nonetheless, I haven't read the book to which you're referring; maybe the author changed some of the "facts." On another note, I believe libraries are still working on an appropriate section for Palin's book. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL SuperManda!
ReplyDeleteDo you think they'll ever find an appropriate section for Palin's book... maybe the "I can see Russia from my house" section!
Welcome, SuperManda. I enjoy your wit.
ReplyDeleteMaybe someone needs to invent a new genre... "Delusional batshit" would work for Palin's book. We could put Glenn Beck's books (a new one every five months!) in there as well. Not sure where that would fit in the Dewey Decimal System.
ReplyDeleteThis is a Keeper. Great post.
ReplyDeleteGarry science teacher is starting Evolution and she informed the class again that Religion will NOT be discussed.
I did not think this was possible in NYC but some students at the beginning of the year started asking her about Adam and Eve and so forth when she told them they were going to learn Evolution.
