Socialism? It depends on who gets the money.
"According to 11 years’ worth of Environmental Working Group data that tracks $200 billion in subsidies, the wealthiest 10 percent of “farmers” have collected 75 percent of the money. That’s exactly the kind of socialism that Rep. Bachmann and her elite ilk like."

ReplyDeleteI get that nonsense where I live. Farmers can do no wrong. They work the land and feed the world. They vote republican and hate welfare and other government handouts. But the damn roads better be able to support a full combine and the government better give them set asides and supports for their prices or else. Then the Democrats do and these assholes still vote republican.

Those ridiculous farming subsidies are very popular. I saw a long list of famous subsidized farming names, which included such people as ABC's Sam Donaldson and others like him. Yep, regular country folk in need of guvimint's help.
