Republican History Rewrite...Again

Micheal Steele, the gift that just keeps giving, has done it again. Accord to TalkPointsMemo, Afghanistan is Obama's war of choice. That's right. Obama's war.

Here is what he said
Steele declared that the war in Afghanistan "was a war of Obama's choosing" that America had not "actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in,"
These people will say anything. Truth is not even a consideration. I cannot believe the ridiculous statements that the republicans continue to make, and these are statements by their leadership, not some run-of-the-mill local elected official. This is the "cream of the crop" republicans.

God help us if they ever get elected again.

  1. Not only are these people chronic liars, but they are downright stupid, too. They live in a cocoon of delusion and can't even use history to formulate an honest and accurate evaluation or analysis of current events. That's why they make stuff up without any basis in fact or reality, a la Steele, Pallin, Cantor, Bachmann, Boehner, and many, many others.

  2. They are twisting an 'air' pretzel.
They are used to playing an 'air' guitar when they are in office.
    Now they play with pretzels.
Boehner likes those free pretzels during happy hour.:-)

  6. He's either the stupidest man in politics or a cunning liar who believes the in the old trick of repeating a lie often enough so that it becomes accepted truths.

I've run up against this on a particular blogger's blog where he listed a number of insults against the president, and when I provided actual facts that disputed and refuted those lies, he deleted my comment and called it bullshit.

    They. Really. Are. Insane.

  7. Facts are not something that right-wing nuts are interested in. The more outrageous the lies, the more the wingnuts embrace them.

  8. I swear to Buddha if the friggin Rethugs win the oval office in 2012, my ass is moving to the baja coast down mexico way. American voters will buy anything without substance as long as they have a catchy fucking slogan, or trashes the opposition in a really memorable and totally false way.

  9. Anne Coulter has come out in support of Michael Steele. She says that Bill Kristol and Liz Cheney (who have called for Steele's resignation) should themselves resign. Because bush got it right when he abandoned Afghanistan and invaded Iraq.

From her article: "Within the first few months we had toppled the Taliban, killed or captured hundreds of al-Qaida fighters and arranged for democratic elections, resulting in an American-friendly government. Then Bush declared success and turned his attention to Iraq..."

    WHY?

Because "Having some vague concept of America's national interest -- unlike liberals -- the Bush administration could see that a country of illiterate peasants living in caves ruled by warlords was not a primo target for nation-building".

I consider myself a Liberal and I am not in favor of nation building. I do not believe that we should have invaded any country.

Of course, Coulter, being the bigot she is, sees no solution to Afghanistan being a nation of "illiterate peasants".

We could do a lot more for the people of Afghanistan with humanitarian aid, and it would be a lot cheaper. If we had been willing to fund humanitarian aid in Afghanistan after the Soviet withdraw the situation would probably be VERY different today.

A regret voiced by Charlie Wilson (The former U.S. Congressman who the film "Charlie Wilson's War" is based on) is, "I didn't stay the course and stay there and push and drive the other members of Congress nuts pushing for a mini-Marshall Plan..."
