Am I A Stalker?

Is following someone's blog like being a stalker?

This question popped up in my mind as I was reading through some blogs that I follow. For several of them, when I see that there is a new post I get excited, well not that kind of "excited", but more like interested in seeing what the blogger has written about this time. Often it is about something personal happening in their lives. It is like I am following them around through the internet. Is that stalking?

I read in the paper today about how cell phones are becoming the new way of hooking up with new people. Is that happening with blogging also? I am new at this blogging stuff, so I don't really know what is happening.

I don't want to be a stalker. I guess everyone is voluntarily putting their lives out there for other people to read about, so maybe it is not really stalking. But even so...

People voluntarily walk down the street too. That doesn't mean that I have a right to follow them around from one public place to another. So...

I just hope that if someone feels that my comments are inappropriate or just bothersome, they will tell me.

And I will go away!

Because I am NOT a stalker!

  1. Nah... you're not a stalker... you are absolutely right in thinking people write stuff and put it out there for others to read...

I've always been a "making friends" kinda person and I like "meeting" new people, even if it's on the internet... you just have to be aware of what you are doing... and be careful...

Now if you go around being a total creep to people it might be different... but I think your comments are nice and at times sarcastically funny!

I hope you keep reading and I'll do the same :-)

  2. You're not a stalker.

Meeting people through blogs can be a rewarding experience. In fact, the blogging group I belong to (the UCF) had nothing whatsoever in common before we found each other except a fondness for SF/F. Now I consider them my friends.

And having people around who disagree with me is a good thing. Because nobody wants a stable of bug-eating man-bitches. Except W, of course.

  3. My view is that I welcome all readers, and only ask that if you stop by more than a couple of times you leave a comment and say hi. For me, blogging is more of a conversation than anything else.

  4. Thanks, everyone. I guess I was feeling a little strange going around and reading about other peoples lives.

But then, maybe I am a little strange...

  5. You don't qualify as a stalker in my books! I get just as excited about other people's blogs and relate to your feelings.

If bloggers wanted only certain people to read their blogs they could make them private/invitation only access.

You have a good sense of humor and are fun to follow and your comments are great!

No worries from this end. :)
