A Message From Robert Redford

  1. Robert Redford said, "much of this oil was not heading for your gastank anyway, but for export to foreign markets". How can this be? I received an email from Newt Gingrich just this morning that promised, if elected, Newt Gingrich would deliver "$2.50-a-gallon-gas and energy independence".

One of the things he vowed to do as president to achive this goal would be to approve the XL pipeline. In fact, approving the pipeline is NUMBER ONE on his list of the steps we need to take to get to lower priced gas and energy independence.

The other steps are: [2] Replace the EPA with a new economically rational Environmental Solutions Agency, [3] Condense regulations to make it easier to build new refineries..., [4] Overhaul the Department of Interior processes to expedite approval of leases, [5] Move to 100 percent expensing for all new equipment so companies could write it off in one year..., [6] Eliminate the capital gains tax to promote investment, [7] Adopt a 12.5 percent corporate tax rate to make America the best country in the world to do business, and [8] Abolish the death tax.

According to Newt, "we can quickly and dramatically reduce the price of gas" if we take these steps. Maybe I'm a frigging nut, but I think either Newt's lying or Robert Redford doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

  2. And we all know that Newt, that paragon of virtue, would not lie. LOL

  3. You would think that the People in this Country would finally get it... and know that more jobs can be created with renewable energy; and cleaner too. I know my 16 year old son G. and his close friends fret about the future. They worry about the weather; clean water; and enough food.. (it is sad they have these things on their minds; but good too they are Conscious).

  4. One thing will force us to become energy independent and that is $7.00 a gallon of gas. The government does not pay attention to the CNG alternative because the oil companies contribute to much to the politicians and buy favor. High priced gas hurts the poor and middle class the most but our elected crooks don't care. They just wants the payoff to keep their jobs.

Wind power kills birds, Coal pollutes, electric cars are a long way off as is dependable solar power.

  5. You go Robert Redford.

He's also campaigning against a huge mining project in a remote corner of Alaska (I got a mailer from him yesterday). He calls it "the worst corporate assault on the environment you've never heard of."

  6. I love the activists.. can you imagine where we would be without them?!
I feel so bad that the young kids have to worry about their future, this is horrible, and should never be!

  7. Obama's between a rock and a hard place on this one. On the one hand he's got the environmentalists pushing him to reject the pipeline, and on the other hand he has the unions pushing him to accept it. My suspicion is that he'll probably approve it, but not until after the election. I don't see this in any way as an act of bravery.

  8. Either the pipeline is good for America or it is not . A President should not be making that decision on what is best for his base to reelect him . To say that President Obama will approve the pipeline after the election is to admit that we don't have a real President .
