Another Example of Failed Republican Economic Policy

From ThinkProgress.org
During the 2008 Presidential campaign, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) praised the Irish economy for its low corporate tax rate and said that if the U.S. would just follow suit, companies would “be able to create jobs, increase your business, make more investment.”

He was not the only one.  Many conservatives over the last several years have been touting the great Irish economy.  They have held up the Irish economy as an example of what we should do, of what economic policies we should be following.

Well, how has that worked out for the Irish?

Again, from the above referenced article,
Now, Ireland is undertaking draconian austerity measures, including raising personal income taxes by €1.9 billion and cutting the minimum wage, in order to receive an €85 billion bailout.

And the republicans are shutting down our damn government until they get more tax cuts from the wealthy.

What a bunch of

  1. Nothing new here. Samo. It's not going to change. When was the last time we won something big and bama is not allowed. There are reasons for that. It was bad with chimpy but now ----wow. Anybody thinks this can be turned around is wrong it ain't going to happen. Look the fuck out.

Great post JC pointing out the obvious as we and others have done another reason of thousands that speak to the reality of the right and why they are so bad but they have all the control and win.

Dims are getting told what to do or they get the or else card played on them and the or else means just that.

But if you sit back and think about the totality of their position you just got to shake your head and wonder where these nutcases come from.

Or you get real scared and you give up on the daily grind of 24/7 news....

  4. To make matters worse, Ireland is now being pushed to the brink of ruin by the madness of austerity policies during economic stagnation, forced on it by the EU which prioritizes deficit reduction over job creation -- as the Republicans are now trying to do here.
